Does PCSX2 support packaged texture mods?
#1
I am a collector of localized games, some author use texture mods, but texture packs for each game often contain thousands of files, which puts significant pressure on the hard drive and leads to frequent small file reads during gameplay. Could PCSX2 support a simple packaged structure, such as CHD or ZIP compression, with a modified file extension? This would make collecting and using texture packs much more convenient while likely minimizing reading overhead. For example, a texture pack could be named SLPS-25364.texture or SLPS-25364.tpk, essentially still being a ZIP file.

I don't believe it's there at present as different packs will have different structures and all that jazz you could try submitting a feature request... Or creating a Pull Request for the pcxs2 code on github.

To solve your small file reading issues though: Use SSD. Getting rid of spinning disk will make a night-and-day difference on your computer performance. Trust me.
