I think it is the common:

Don't hide a problem: Solve it!

rama is one of the devs who like more general accuracy over fast per game hacks.

Gregory is doing a damn good job of fixing up GSdx.

yes he is mostly opengl atm though , I talking about the fact GSDX should be rebuilt mostly though so we dont need all these hacks, last i check no one wants to even tackle or think about that

Well there are two options:

Fix up GSdx, or make a new GS plugin.

Some of gregory work is in OGL but not all, and it shouldn't be hard to port his work to DX either.

I don't think anyone currently on the project has the knowledge to write a new one from scratch right now, so really GSdx is all we have. If Gabest came back, that'd be great but you know how he is. He only pops in randomly when something piques his curiosity, like a new API. I really don't see him doing much if any work on the current renderer, unfortunately.

Forgive me if this sounds stupid but what about graphics plugins or code for other high level emulators like Dolphin, PPSSPP or ePSXe. Some are modular while others arent but they do leverage different technologies. Would it be prudent to see if those can be used or ported or am I just an idiot?

Keep in mind I know a great deal about programming but very little of graphics plugins (DirectX/OGL). Please be gentle lol

pcsx2 is a low level emulator. The gs plugin emulates the gs chip. I would expect nothing good if you combine a HLE plugin with an LLE emulator but might be wrong here. Maybe it is ok for gsdx since there seems to be almost no bidirectional communication between the core and the gs.

But still HLE plugins of Dolphin should emulate Wii-GS-functons not PS2-GS-functions... If they are not by luck similar (what I would not expect) you will again gain nothing.

Yeah it wouldn't be of any use.
