Dragon Quest VIII crashing PCSX2 2.1.0.0
#1
Hey guys,

First time posting here but it's quite a basic issue.

When playing Dragon Quest VIII via ISO using PCSX 2.1.0.0, the application randomly crashes with no warning. There is nothing in the game that specifically triggers the crash, seems completely random. The crash actually causes PCSX to crash rather than the game itself. I have played numerous games using this emulator, but have never encountered this issue with another game.

Anyone have any idea what the issue is? could it be the ISO?

Could be the iso, not sure though. Try using the disc to see if it has the same problem, or re rip it using IMGBurn.

A little bit off topic there but whatever lol.

The GTX670 is an amazing card and it runs pretty much anything you can throw at it. The EVGA GTX670 FTW series is especially awesome. A couple of my friends are using them and every game runs great.

As for the Dragon Quest problem, yeah, run from the dvd or make a new ISO and try again.

Just had a little update guys, turns out every time Dragon Quest crashes, it causes my ps3 controller to stop working also. I'm using Motionjoy for the controller emulation. Now I'm unsure as to why my controller and pcsx2 crashed, but they are bound to be connected. The lights were still on on the controller and when I disconnected the controller and reconnected it, the controller worked again. Any ideas?

The gtx 670 is an absolute beast to be fair, I've overclocked mine and it's better than a stock clocked 680. The rumor mill is going at the moment, saying that the 7 series may be announced in the next few months, so it may be worth holding out for the 7 series for 1. to get the 770 (estimated 25% faster according to some people) or 2. get the 670 a fair bit cheaper.

(Just a hunch) Try changing DirectSound in SPUX-2 back to XAudio.
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)
(I am no longer a Windows user)
