The easiest is using HDBoot, but that requires a HDD adapter, which you probably don't have (I think they made some without internet, but I could be wrong).

The slightly harder way is to use the disk-swap trick, which is actually really easy to do on the fat PS2s, though I had to take the top off the PS2 to get the timing correct. As long as you are careful, taking the top off won't break anything. However, you will need a game that works with the swap-disk trick, some of which are listed in this tutorial http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/swap.php

Could you tell me more about the HDD adapter? How much do they run? Are there any legitimate places I can buy them?

That's what you use to connect HDD to PS2.

That appears to be a network adapter? How do you connect a HDD with it?

Well, it's more than just a NIC. It can also connect IDE hard drives, it has all the ports on the back.

So it connects a standard HDD through an IDE port? Why isn't it listed anywhere in the description?

A standard IDE HDD (e.g. the old style).

Newer hard drives are SATA, and it won't work with them.

Because the description is incomplete. I have a network adapter exactly like it. I can show you pictures that show the IDE connector if you like.

Also note the Q&A section of the page, where they talk about hard drives.

I'm aware of the difference I have an IDE HDD laying around here I believe. Where is the actual IDE port on that though? The description only talks about it being a network adapter.

Okay here is mine. You can see the front side is the same.

The backside of mine has the plastic cover removed(e.g. normally the circuit boards aren't exposed), which I had to do to make it fit a Western Digital drive(It will fit most drives just fine, but WD ones you have to mod it slightly.)
