EFP ISO CD plugin = Crash, D3D not native = crash
#1
Hello! I don't usually like to ask for help like this, but I couldn't find any solutions using the search.

I followed the guide on how to configure the emulator. I think I understand it pretty well. When I configure emulator to use the EFP ISO v.6 plugin, the emulator immediately crashes upon hitting the "execute" button. I have it set to use a Kingdom Hearts CHoM.iso. I figured there must be some sort of compatibility problem with Windows 7, so I changed the plugin to a normal Gigaherz's CD Drive plugin, and mounted the iso with daemon tools. The game started and played fine.

The resolution sucked though, so I changed it from windowed mode to 1920x1080, the native resolution of my monitor. I changed the D3D settings to 1920x1080, also. Set it to 19:9. Started it up, displayed the "Playstation" logo (Except, the Playstation logo was actually just a large white rectangle...) and it crashed. Tried lower resolutions with the same results. The only resolutions that seem to work are the native ones.

I then tried a Dark Cloud 2 iso using native and other resolutions, but can't get passed the "checking memory card" screen. I assume this is because of the CD plugin I am using.

I'd like to get the EFP ISO plug-in loading properly so I can discard the idea of mounting the games, and I'd also like to get my resolution to work properly.

I have also tried running the beta with no success.

System Specs:

CPU - Core i7 920
RAM- 6 gigs DDR3
GPU - ATI Radeon 4870
PSU - 750 watt PC Power Cooling
OS - Windows 7 64bit build 2332

Running a USA 2004 ps2 bios. the ISOs are alsy USA, NTCS.

Thanks,
Jacob

Can you tell us what PCSX2/GSdx versions and what settings you have on them? Also you should be using Linuz ISO CDVD plugin not EFP, Linuz should be there if you got the PCSX2 0.9.6 package from the site.

Sure.

I'm using PCSX2 v. 0.9.6, and GSdx 0.1.14 SSSE3.

I thought Linuz was simply a compress/decompression tool? I'll try to compress and ISO and see what happens...

No Linuz ISO CDVD is to run your image files as well, simply select it from plugin list and when you run a game from "file > run cd/dvd" it will ask where the ISO file is (just make sure the iso isnt mounted in other program as well). Have you tried latest GSdx version? http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-3031.html

Also there's no need to compress a ISO i'd recommend you not to do it eitherway.

The updated GSdx seems to have fixed my crashing error on 1920x1080, but it didn't really change anything... The graphics still look like a PS1 game. So pixelated...

Linuz doesn't seem to be working. "Error loading CDVD plugin"

Really? can you post a pic? I'm curious for what looks pixelated

Did you make sure to unmount the ISO from daemon tools? changed the Linuz ISO configuration at all?

My mistake, I thought I had already unmounted the image... Yes, linuz works fine, now.

Here are the screen shots.

Native Res - [Image: natived.th.jpg]

1920x1080 - [Image: 1920cpz.th.jpg]

They both look the exact same to me?

Ah yes you are right in 2d the difference might not be noticeable in fact higher resolution might just make it more more pixelated, in 3d however it's really better tho.

This is with native and 1536x1536 for example (not same game but you get the point Tongue2):

Yeah, I was indeed a little hasty... Once I actually started the game, it looked amazingly clear. Thanks for all of your help!

One more quick question - is it possible to open up an mds file rather than an iso?
