Undub patches tend to change the crc.
If you play the game without enabling the undub patch, that should work.

Yeah jesal is right. It's the same with Tales of the Abyss. The undub patch makes it have a different CRC.

You can also just figure out the new CRC and update the cheats_ws.zip file yourself. (Copy the regular pnach file and rename it with the new CRC, which is what I did with ToA).

That's actually not a good idea, since cheats_ws.zip updates from time to time, but even if it didn't - the next time he gets a newer version of PCSX2 it will overwrite his change.

It's best to just put his file at the cheats_ws folder, such that it's not overwritten next time he updates pcsx2.

That works too.

Personally I just copy the cheats_ws.zip file around, unless I'm sure new modifications were being made to old games, but in that case I know exactly which game I need to add, since it's only ToA that I need to add anyways.

Copying it around is fine (though not sure why you need to do that - every copy of pcsx2 has this file at the same dir as pcsx2), but if your goal is only to modify few files in it, or add some new patches, it's better to keep them at the correct dir and not at cheats_ws.zip.

PCSX2 first searches for ws patch files with the matching CRC at the cheats_ws folder, and ONLY if it didn't find any it then looks at cheats_ws.zip.

Just remake your iso from your original ps2 dvd without applying the patch
