Extra rendering threads question
#1
Hello, guys. How are you doing?

I'm currently experiencing slowdown when I set extra rendering threads above zero.
I'm playing Shadow Hearts, and my GSDx config is attached (MTVU is off).
With zero threads, the game actually plays OK, but sometimes in battle, I get an annoying slowdown (such when casting Zhuzhen's Ogre Flamedance, when casting Fire Ball, and so on...)
And, it's even weirder that, prior to formatting my PC, I had no such problems.

Yes, I know this has been previously discussed in http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Extra-rendering-threads, but in the end, the discussion has become about MTVU speedup.

I have an i7-3370 @3.40GHz, it has 4 cores and 8 threads (thanks to Hyper Threading).
Here are the FPS, as I change the "Extra Rendering Threads" option:
0: 100% (~59.90)
2: ~67% (~39.90)
3: ~68% (~40.90)
4: ~65% (~39.01)
5: ~65% (~38.90)
6: ~65% (~39.06)
7: ~65% (~39.13)

Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks in advance!

You could try to set EE cycle rate to -1 or -2.
Intel hyperthreading doesn't help pcsx2 from my experience.

Why are you using Software rendering btw? Are there issues in Hardware mode?

Second dx9 is very outdated , switch to OpenGL for nvidia gpus.

Also grab the latest dev build 1.5

Ops, my forum unexperience got me. Sorry about that, guys.

EE cyclerate didn't solve the problem... what a pity.
I still find it weird that extra rendering threads actually slow down the game instead of speeding it up.
It is most unfortunate that I have to use software mode, since hardware mode causes some issues.
Not even the latest build could solve.

(P.S.: If another post appears, I will delete this one. Still getting used to forum controls. haha)

Thanks for everything!
