Extreme slowdown (rather slow-mo) on a decent config
#1
Hello,

I have the following config:

C2D T3400
4Gb RAM
Nvidia 9600M GT 512mb
Vista 32

running 0.9.6 with gdsx 1611 (latest beta)

and I'm experiencing the same extreme slowdowns in all games confirmed as running fullspeed (FFX, Yakuza, GoW1) even on lowest res. It always shows as 30FPS but the game is like slow-motion (visually 5-10 fps) and the sound is slowed down and distorted too.

Any ideas what might be the cause here?

Thanks a lot.

Probably you use software renderer in GSDX. And you config is not very good for GOW1, FFX should run on 55fps (NTSC).

No, unfortunately I'm not that stupid to use the software renderer. Tried all modes, DX9 and DX10 - same s different day.

If you see other FPS than what you are really getting, it means that you are using lots of speed hacks which are probably slowing the game down instead of speeding it up. You should check and see which speed hacks are good for each game, not enable them blindly

Well I'm not using any except 'Escape' hack Smile It's been always on default. Even if different settings should be used (not so many of them anyway, eh?) the FPS should be different but not a persistent Matrix-style slowmo with distorted sound.

well, it would help to know your exact config of pcsx2 and plugins. update your pcsx2 to its latest beta, not only gsdx. if you use frame skipping, disable it. and "confirmed as running full speed" still needs a powerful system to run it that way (i.e. something like the recommended specs for pcsx2).

ffx is running full speed on my 2.2dual core 8600gt that's not a powerful system by any means.

this might be true for ffx, but he also mentions gow1, which certainly won't run full speed with the system you describe.

actually, it does. but I've not played yakuza, so I can't confirm that one.

look, we could discuss this for months, it still wouldn't help anyone. if you consider games running @ 60fps because of the enabled speed hacks/frame skipping "full speed", ok fine, have fun with it. but the topic is that the op gets false fps readings, which most likely either originate in his speed hack or frame skipping config. and in addition to that i just wanted to point out that "confirmed as running full speed" (no idea who confirmed that) doesn't mean "it will run full speed on most current systems", especially as he's running pcsx2 on a notebook. without any more info about his config, any speculation about the fps he might get is futile, anyway.
