Extremely high gpu usage no matter what settings.

I'm using v1.3.1-710-g6ed137d. I'm getting massive gpu load (60-99%) with most games that's causing insane slowdown to unplayable levels on anything other than native. Even on native i get slowdowns. I was previously using a dev build from last month with no issues. Could run everything full speed before, even at x3 native res. This happens on gsdx opengl hardware and d3d11 hardware. Also with all accurate settings off in opengl. GoW 70% and Star Ocean 3 99%, even on native? CPU load seems normal. The power plan is set to high performance and PCSX2 is added to the Nvidia control panel with use nvidia gpu as default.

System Specs:
PC: MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro
Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Processor/CPU: 4th Gen Intel Core i7 4810MQ 2.8GHz-3.7GHz(Turbo)
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GTX 880m 8gb GDDR5
Memory/RAM: 32gb GDDR3

Could you try a couple of builds from here: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php?m=fulllist
and find where this was first introduced? It would help a lot in fixing it

Perhaps it's a driver/malware issue? If it's not a PCSX2 problem, try reinstalling your drivers and checking for viruses and other malicious sofware.

My antivirus detects no virus or malware. Aslo just clean installed my nvidia drivers last time i updated. Only pcsx2 is having the issue. I use many emulators and my steam games are running just fine except arkham knight lmao.

Good news! Had a little time before work but iv'e found the culprit. It's the crc hack level. Anything other than full or aggressive causes the gpu load to go nuts basically maxing out. Some games are less severe like GoW but they are still abnormally high. Trying these settings in d3d11 and opengl hardware with crc hack level at full and aggressive causes the gpu load to behave normally. Anything lower is the problem.

Star Ocean 3, Gow, Radiata Stories and Valkyrie Profile seem to be directly affected. So whatever these games have in common. Don't seem to be affected, Shadow Hearts 2, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Grandia 3, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi and Crash Wrath of Cortex.

Yeah you are trying games with CRC hacks. I'm suspecting this is the change that did this: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/commit/c6...e0bc2cb6b1

So try this build and report back: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php?m=get&rev=v1.3.1-698-g5f8d3b9&platform=windows-x86

BTW you should NOT use Anisotropic filtering with OpenGL AFAIK, especially x16. Also disable FX shader,FXAA and shade boost (did you just tick every checkbox you saw...?)

Lol no. My machine can handle those settings just fine and always has. Is there any particular reason not to use anisotropic filtering, fx shadder, fxaa and shade boost with opengl, other than performance? If not i leave them on for graphical enhancments as long as they don't cause drastic rendering glitches on the games i am playing. They have no impact on this issue. eg. Star ocean 3 reamains at 99% gpu load even with the aforementioned settings off. So i don't see what that has to do with the underlying issue here. I have done countless tests with this emulator, so i know what i'm doing. If a game can't run full speed with these enhancements i lower them. I feel kinda insulted by that comment Glare I was just trying to help track down this problem.
