F12 movie recording... what am I doing wrong?
#1
I just attempted to record a movie in PCSX2 0.9.7; hit F12, chose a location, left it set on uncompressed, and went. For the most part, it worked, but the resulting movie has no audio. A file called recording.wav was saved in the PCSX2 folder, but it won't play in any of the audio programs I have handy, so I can't splice it to the video in VirtualDub. What am I doing wrong?

(Also, I remember reading somewhere that 0.9.7 only actually supports one codec for videos, though I can't find where now that I'm looking for it. Will 0.9.8 support any lossless codecs? Huge movie file is huge.)

I can use other codecs just fine (like xVid, divX, Lagarith Lossless, Uncompressed, etc.). Not sure why PCSX2 isn't letting you choose more than one. Blink And even if you can't play the "recording.wav", VirtualDub should let you add it regardless.

I guess I wasn't clear; I was using uncompressed because (a) I was under the impression that the other options were dummied out and (b) I didn't want to put extra encoding load on the computer. I just checked, and it does encode to Lagarith.

That doesn't solve the audio problem, though; I've got a 33-meg recording.wav file, but neither VirtualDub nor any of my audio-playing programs recognize it as a legitimate WAV file. I kind of assumed it was either a known issue or a common mistake, but if it's neither of those, I'm not sure what to try to figure the problem out.

EDIT: perhaps this error output from Media Player Classic will help?

I'm giving this thread a bit of a bump in hopes someone can help me. Anybody know why the audio output of saving a movie (using F12) would be malformed in some way?

Bumping again, as I've answered my own question and added a new one in the process.

Pressing F12 a second time isn't enough to stop the recording, it seems; I have to press it again. Doing so produces a properly formed WAV file. My question is, what happens on the second press?

Hey im having the same problem...
When I press f12 and choose to save uncompressed, then after
I recorded the video it will generate 2 file the video and the recording wav

both the video and the wav are playing..

I use virtualdub to compile them but then again it would compile the wav file

(the setting i use for compression audio in virtualdub is Lame MP3)

I tried to convert first the wav file to mp3 or anything that is not .wav but the audio produces no sound.... the wav is 0kb in size Sad

is there any other technique to make this work?
