FFX slowdowns
#1
My specs:
2.9ghz quad core (AMD)
4gb DDR3
512mb nVidia Geforce 315
Windows 7 64 bit (I think)

So I just started playing FFX on this system with the .9.7 pcsx2 version, I've messed around with the settings to try and get it to run faster and have noticed several things:
-game runs faster on 1024x1024, but has some weird glitches/artifacts
-the game's internal res is 512x416 and i set it to that, it glitches during the movies (but doesn't lag on fire, or demi)
-if i go back to native resolution (IIRC, is 512x416), no glitches happen during movies but when i use fire it drops to 40 fps

why does the native resolution lag more than 1024x1024? and is there any way to run this without slowdowns on native res?

Hmm, not sure if its related, but I've been getting a similar thing while learning directx.1680x1050 runs at twice the speed of 800x600. Totally confused!

Interesting. Probably it has something to with pcsx2 scaling resolution, just my guess.

Also could anyone help me find some settings that will give me stable 60 fps? i've heard of computers that aren't as good as mine getting stable 60, so i'm a bit confused.

I have near-constant 60fps, demi really hurts my PC lol

(you can look for a guide come 0.9.8's release)

i can get the same 135fps on native or 1024x1024 while just standing in a village. No battles. I can't remember the fps during battles and I don't want to play it. Never got into it. My GPU is gtx260.

A wide guess I dare not to bloodly defend is anything not the native resolution (or whatever the video driver is actually running) is scaling down or up... Smile
