FFX zoolab crash

Hello everyone
I've been using pcsx2 0.9.8 for a while and i never had a problem until now... In FFX everytime i select "fight" when i talk to the zoolab guy pcsx2 crashes... Basically what happens is that the pcsx2 screen turns a strange red with multicolor points and stops working. I tried a few different random video settings and i disabled audio but i have close to no idea what i'm doing... I'm using the original game (in italian) with a downloaded save (in english, converted to PAL) could that be the problem?

nvidia gtx 580
12gb ddr3 ram
120gb ssd

First time I hear of that, are you using any non default settings?

it happened when everything was default... anyway... i just found an iso of the game in english and it works fine, so it was a difference in language of the game and the save...
