FFX2 after battle not loading?

Game plays great until I get up to chapter three. I'm at one spot where I'm doing a battle and the screen stays black but the music continues.

after adjusting a few things I get the after battle exp screen. Once I click outta that to continue the music continues but the screen stays black. Any idea on what I should do?
