FFXII slowness
#1
Got a display problem with FFXII. The game appears as though its running in the low 40's but according to pcsx Im getting a solid 60. I thought it was microstutter but disabling sli doesnt help. Any ideas? Im thinking maybe lillypad is the culprit (not polling fast enough) but Im not sure. My old q9550/4870x2 ran it better than it does now.

What is your PC now? What settings? Any speedhacks enabled?

I'm having the same issue however its not limited to just FFXII but pretty much all my games. PCSX is showing my fps at 55-60fps however the games are running as if they are in the upper 30 - low 40 range with the audio chugging along at the same speed.

PC Specs:
i7 920 @ 2.8GHz
XFX Radeon 5870 OC'd Edition
Gskill 6GB Ram 1600
Corsair 64GB SSD
500GB 7200rpm HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Emu Specs:
PCSX2 0.9.7 r3876
GSDx11 Hardware - Default config (have also tried GSDx9, same results)
Everything else default
No speed hacks enabled

I used to run the emu on my old q6600 cpu using same settings but with much better results than what I am getting on my i7 920.

pcsx .97 using the plugs that came with it

Yeah its strange, my fps never dip below 59.7 but when I move the camera its looks as though Im getting low fps but according to pcsx thats not so. Im thinking maybe lillypad isnt polling the controller fast enough so its causing a stuttering effect but Ive no way of adjusting it. My old q9550/4870x2 ran the game better than my new one. Not faster but a heck of alot smoother.

I had a similar problem. Turns out it was the disc. I was playing from the disc and the dvd drive wasn't keeping up with my cpu or gpu. Ripping to iso and using the iso instead fixed the problem.

Otherwise, what are your EE and VU percentages showing when you have the problem?

It looks like I just needed a bit more speed. OC'd my 920 to 3.6GHz and now most games are running fine. There's still a few stutters here and there but I guess that's to be expected, especially when not using speedhacks.

3 GHZ is not enough for these games, i have no issues on my Core2Duo 8500 @ 3.8 - the only game i have abit of an issue is dragon quest 8 in the open but its playable

really? I have a 2.2 and FF12 plays fine. not everything requires a monster CPU to run, keep that in mind
