FFXII

I have a macbook with these specs
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
2gig ram
2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

when i try ffxii it does the beginning videos perfectly but once gameplay starts it drops to around 20 fps. I've tried different suggestions on here but not sure what would work for me and I also wondered what i should expect to get fps wise on my computer.
Thanks

post your pcsx2 config, you wont get full speeds with that rig(with speedhacks you might) but you should be getting more than 20fps.
Laptop Rig:

Core 2 Duo @ 1.8Ghz
3 gb DDR2-800 RAM
256mb ATI HD 3430
Windows Vista Buisness 32-Bit

Desktop Rig:

P4 HT @ 3.0Ghz
3 gb DDR2-533 RAM
256mb ATI X1300
Windows XP Pro 32-Bit

gsdx sse2 0.1.14 for graphics
spu2-x 1.1.0 for sound
i have speed hacks on and i can still only get to like 26ish fps

Use the SSSE3 gsdx plugin, i dnt think your cpu supports SSE4.1.

In the graphics config check the native checkbox. Also if your using vista/7 make sure its DX10.

Its a laptop so check if you have the battery set to high performance, how are you playing the game, through cd or iso?

Ok .. .since from your previous post which your Gsdx 0.14 is kinda outdates here ... Download the latest version of rev of GSDX and Pcsx2 to gain more compatible. Speedhack and DirectX 10 also kinda help a lot with FPS. However, with your spec of CPU PC you don't expect to gain full speed because at least 2.5 ghz is need to emulate FFXII to gain a best speed.

*edit by moderator* no witch hunting thank you.

Bro, you can't run Final Fantasy XII in that laptop. It's very GPU and CPU demanding, the best you can do is reduce your resolution like 512*512 and play with no sound at all. Using Windows Xp at full screen and you'll get a better speed in that particular game. I did that with my old Dual Core at 1.8 overclocked until 2.25 xDD. I didn't get 60fps but I did get like 30 so 40 fps that made the game playable for me Smile

I used to run FFXII at nearly full speeds on a non-overclocked Q6600 (2.4ghz) and a crappy Radeon HD 2600XT on older versions of PCSX2, he should be able to run it well. FFXII is one of the better games on the emulator, especially if you have a decent gfx card.
