FPS help

So I'm fairly new to the pcsx2 program and i was running ffx at about 32-50 fps (it only hit 50 on cutscenes) can anyone help me get my fps up?
the menus and dialogue stuff doesn't show up either.
also when i start it up the ps2 menu where the memory card and game is suppose to be is blank and i can't see either of them so i have to run it in fast mode is there a fix for that?

about the FPS : what are your specs ?

my specs are:
Processor: 1.8 GHz intel core i7
Memory: 4gb 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
and I'm running Lion
also im not sure how to check my RAM

and so your saying that there is problem with my bios if the menu didn't start up correctly?

also the fps rate is only low for ffx... i jet played kingdom hearts and the fps is perfect but some of the txt is missing.. is that because of a bad rip of my disk? or can i make them appear with plugins?

No, i pcsx2 for mac isnt able to display bios.
Now, since you have both a weak cpu & weak gpu, that could explain low fps...
Dunno about KH issue
