Feature suggestion
#21
As I see some feature request here, I will ask this here too.

Is someone working to build a new memcard GUI?, that will look smt like this?: http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca:11068/mymc/

If is noone working on it, maybe I should start coding it (seems simple).

Actually they are working to make saving within the host filesystem too so you wouldn't have to save to just one file that has a chance of getting corrupted, and you would be able to exceed the 8 MB limitations on either memory card.

But if you beat them to the punchline, then I'd love to check it out. Laugh
CPU: Pentium D 'Presler' 915 2.8 ghz 2x2MB L2 @ 3.5 ghz
GPU: eVGA [Nvidia] 8600GT 256MB SSC DDR3
Tested: FFX, FFX-2, FFXII, MGS3, KH, KH2, The Hobbit NTSC
PCSX2 FTW! Biggrin

Mmmm thats interesting. So, if I understood right, the host filesystem will be like a parser to Win/Linux filesystem and PS2. We will delete our old 8MB files and have small save files in the memcard folder.

Am i correct?

Indeed, the mem card folder will just hold the actual save files.

From http://code.google.com/p/pcsx2/wiki/Todo

Quote:Host filesystem memory card

Premise: Use the host filesystem (NTFS/EXT3/etc) to store memorycard data, instead of emulating the raw flash memory of a physical memorycard.

The memory card library (and presumably the matching module, though this isn't confirmed) is actually very high level, if we have the hooks we can use the host filesystem instead. Replace the mcman module or mcman imports in other modules with syscalls or a reserved instruction, catch this in pcsx2 and implement the functions with native code.

That should give you a little more info that you might need in order to achieve this.

This particular idea is just that right now: An idea.
We have nobody working on it currently and there's more pressing stuff to do.

DXeros:
If you want to give it a try, please do so!
The only requirement is that you should use the existing wxWidgets framework
PCSX2 employs Smile
