Figuring out fullscreen (16:9)

Hi,

I am playing FFXII. Works great, no glitches etc. I recently noticed that it had a 16:9 ingame option and though I'd set it up to play fullscreen on my comp (up until now I just left games windowed).

So I set the custom resolution to my screens resolution (1600 by 900) but when I go fullscreen (with alt + enter) it remains a small window surrounded by black. Any way to make it actually cover the whole screen?

I'm guessing that was in the instructions somewhere, but what's it actually doing?

Same as modifying the Aspect Ratio option in Config->Emulation Settings->GS window
