Final Fantasy X wrong aspect ratio
#1
Hi guys!
Good to see PCSX2 is still going strong!

Just so you know, FFX is not emulated correctly regarding the aspect ratio, at least not the 3D part.
The picture is too thin, like it's squeezed together from the sides.
The real ratio is somewhere between the 4:3 and 16:9 settings, with a little more to the 4:3 side.
So to get the right picture you have to use windowed mode, use stretch and resize the window to make it a little wider than standard emulator 4:3.

I'm very sensitive to this kind of stuff, and I've played FFX enough to know what it should look like.
Just stand next to a save sphere and try to make it look perfectly spherical and you'll see.

Take care!

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

Thanks for your replies!

I had to fire up my PS2 just to check if I wasn't mistaken.
Loaded the same FFX image file I use on PCSX2.
Tried all the different ratio settings my old flat tv offers.

My conclusion is that, because I have played FFX HD on PS3 more recently, my eyes must have adapted to that.
Because my PS2 showed the exact same picture ratio as PCSX2 does, but on the PS3 the ratio was slightly wider.

PCSX2 really does it's job perfectly and I was wrong Smile
The (to me) squeezed feeling picture is simply by design on the PS2 and PCSX2 emulates that properly.

So much for having played FFX enough... which I have done quite a lot...
I guess I should go play some more PS2-FFX until I get used to it... heh :|

Take care guys!
