Flickering lines in top/left corners when using MSAA
#1
I'm playing Final Fantasy X with 4XMSAA but I have flickering lines in the top and left corners of the screen.
Is there a way to fix this?

I don't want to stick to FXAA because it makes the image blurry and MSAA looks just perfect.

Try the custom shader in the plugins section. It fixes the blurriness by adding a sharpen filter. It also has more saturation so the graphics don't look so washed out like on a normal ps2.

As for a way to fix it. I don't think there is. It is a hack and does have known issues with most games I believe.

hmmm not sure about this. SweetFX looks kinda better with saturation, bloom and HDR.

use what you like but there is no fix for MSAA and the lines and other corruption it causes, its not even recommended to be used

yeah I guess that's the only option.
I remember having those lines too in Skyrim when using MSAA.

Try increasing the internal resolution. Its even better than MSAA most of the time. 4x Native schould work ok with your GPU.

PS2 games were not designed to use MSAA. The way MSAA works requires a game designed around it, or else it can cause issues. This isn't just PS2 games, there are a lot of PC games (even recently released ones) that don't allow MSAA to be used for this exact reason. Specifically, MSAA plays very very badly with transparencies in particular.

FSAA (full scene AA) works better but is more resource intensive. In PCSX2's case this is what happens when you render an image greater than your window size (generally 3-6x native resolution). You can also enable FXAA by pressing page up (or was it page down? I always forget) which is a shading effect applied after the final image.

I know, but 4X internal resolution massively slows down on special effects like fire or the demi ability, that's why I rather use MSAA or FXAA.
SMAA with sweetFX works fine too.
But I'm still debating on what I use, the lines aren't actually that annoying but sometimes it just irritates me a little.
