Frame rate
#1
How can I change the frame rate on PCSX2. I'm running PCSX2 on a core2duo laptop. I believe by reducing the frame rate I'll get better performance. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

A few months ago there was another member who talked about the same thing. These methods are potentially gamebreaking, as they defy the normal mechanics of ps2 emulation. Don't expect help if you try these methods and get into trouble.

On a side note, I gotta admire billyash for trying new things to help those with very low spec hardware.

PPS. Saiki also has a great guide as well.

Something to note, changing frame rate will not give you better performance in most cases. Framerate only deals with the final rendering of the video (GPU bound), most people have slowdowns in actually emulating the PS2 itself (CPU bound). In which case, you're just tossing video frames out and causing graphical errors and not gaining any real benefit.
