Frequent Slowdowns
#1
Hi, I recently got PCSX2 working on my laptop,

Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz
Windows 7 (64 bit), 4 gigs of ram
nVidia GeForce GTS 360M

I've been playing Final Fantasy XII on it, and after trying a multitude of settings and turning up and down the speedhacks trying to troubleshoot, I still can't get passed the issue I'm having, every 6 or 7 steps, at what seem to be constant intervals, I drop from 60 frames down to 40ish, for 2 or so seconds, then it goes back up, 6 more steps or so, and it repeats. If you need me to link my settings, just tell me how and Ill do so. I'm not quit sure which files contain all my settings but just tell me and I'll link, thanks in advance for any information and help!

Okay plugin is irellivant if you are using iso mode. umm, only other thing i can suggest, where do you use your laptop? do you keep it on your lap or anything? Problem being, laptops are not designed for gaming and under the stress of the emulator, they can become extremely hot and slow themselves down, it's possible it's doing this to you.

forgive me i should have checked, you are using 0.9.8 right? it could be worth trying the latest buildbot beta from here: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

There is a speedhack in that called "MTVU" which might improve your speed slightly, or at least level it out a little.

Is there any way you could forward me to the MTVU in a PM or something, and yeah I'm using 0.9.8, if anyone else has some input thatd be great.

dude, im not going to hold your hand, its config, emu settings, speedhacks, tick MTVU Tongue

Most of the emulator menu layouts are quite logical, they just need looking through, if you need to find something, we have a guide you can find here http://www.pcsx2.net/guide.php

Ah okay sorry. I thought you were implying a download. I already have that ticked. I'm not sure what my issue could be, I'll keep troubleshooting.

id personally say grab a program like coretemp or something and check your temperatures at the point it start slowing down. also the percentages at the top of the pcsx2 output windows might be of some indication.
