G-Surfers Issues with Cut-scenes + Read Error
#1
[Bug Report] G-Surfers [PAL]

# PCSX2 version: GIT 1.3.0-20141222193132 - compiled on Dec 22 2014
# CPU options: EE/IOP defaults, VUs defaults (also tested EE/IOP clamping to Full and VUs clamping to Extra+Preserve sign)
# Plugins used: GSdx GIT, SPU2-X GIT
# Description: Despite ripping the disc without error and verifying it with http://redump.org/disc/7609/, the game will complain about two read errors, at which point the cut-scene will stutter for about 1-2 seconds. This issue does not occurs when the game is played on an actual PS2.

I've ripped the disc multiple times, using different software and on different computers and no errors where produced. My ISOs the MD5/CRC also match the values provided on the redump site.

However when I try to run the game in PCSX2, it will complain about two read errors during which the intro cut-scene stutters for a couple of seconds.

Also, all cut-scenes appear half-way down the screen, even in software mode.

These issues do not occur when played on an actual PS2.

did you try with other video backends ?

GSDX
DX9 (HW/SW) misplaces cut-scene + stutters on read error
DX11 (HW/SW) misplaces cut-scene + stutters on read error
OGL (HW/SW) misplaces cut-scene + stutters on read error
OCL Crashes because I only have OCL1.1

ZeroGS (I forgot I had this plugin)
(Default settings) stutters on read error but the cuts-scene is positioned correctly

Closedeyes since sw mode and switching video backends don't help, try reporting this bug to rama (or) gregory so, they can have a look at this and fix it.

I can't help much with GSdx but that disc read error is interesting, at least.
The game is probably triggering a CDVD emulation bug.

I'd first check if the game has any known problems with HD Loader Wink

The only mention of the game being used with HD Loader I've found was on this list http://list.sksapps.com/?page=indexg.html, which states that the game needs MDMA0 and Mode with HDL-v0.8c.

Based on your hint on it potentially being a CDVD emulation bug. I decided to try "Linuz Iso CDVD plugin" and it was free from the read error/cut-scene stutter issue.

Hopefully that gives you a better hint as to what's wrong.
