GS Plugin failed to open on Windows 8.1
#1
Hey guys, my PCSX2 was working fine yesterday when I was using windows 8 but after I updated to Windows 8.1, my PCSX2 cannot seem to boot. Keeps having the pop up saying

"GS Plugin failed to open. You computer may have insufficient resources, or incompatible hardwares/drivers."

This is the log

0.9.8 is old and unsupported, please update to at least 1.0.0 before continuing. Thanks.

Also make sure directx is up to date, you can check it by getting the websetup found here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...aspx?id=35

I experienced a lot of driver issues after installing windows 8.1. I had to reinstall the Nvidia video and asus sound drivers. Even if there was no update to the drivers. Looks like win 8.1 is corrupting them.
Maybe reinstalling those drivers would solve your problem.

I think the problem really was the graphic drivers. Everything started working properly again after I installed some new updates from Windows Update. And I took a look at the update history. There's an update called

---------------------------------------------------------------------
nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce 710M

Installation date: ‎24/‎10/‎2013 5:39 PM

Installation status: Succeeded

Update type: Important

nVidia Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3, Other hardware software update released in June, 2013
---------------------------------------------------------------------

After I installed this all my games are working properly now. Biggrin Thanks for all the helps Laugh

it does appear after update from win8 to win8.1 it's will restore all driver defaults and it's essentials

e.g.:
video drivers
mobo drivers
updated DirectX libraries and VC+2008,2010 was wiped out after the win8 to win8.1 update.

kinda fresh OS install.
try re-install all the drivers and it's windows essentials(DirectX libraries,VC+)

Refraction. So I remove the Windows Update driver and reinstall a new one from nvidia.com?

Okay thanks. Didn't know updating to Windows 8.1 would wipe out those drivers =X

I didn't know that either before updating. I realized that when all my 3d programs and games got buggy. Blink

Btw you should never update drivers from windows update. Those drivers are always outdated. Always use your device manufacturers support website.
