GS - PCRTC: [Bug Report] The King of Fighters 2000 [SLPS_251.56]
#1
PCSX2 versions used:
v1.3.1-1306-g56f2e74

Emulation settings:
"Safe" preset, "Safest" doesn't make a difference in this case

Plugins used
GSdx AVX (but I've tried all of them) SW mode with no extra rendering threads. Both OpenGL and DX

Description
Wrong aspect ratio, the game starts fine in 640x448. But after the loading screen it goes in 640x256. Even the F8 snaps are broken

The game is fullscreen on the ps2.

CPU: I5 2500 3.80ghz
GPU: AMD 5670

The game is not missing half the screen, the problem is that black bar at the bottom and the slightly squashed image

Here's how it looks on my ps2 without any zoom function

I'm trying to rip my KoF2002 disc as well, but I can't get pcsx2 to recognize it. So I will try later with that one

Have you got your GS Aspect Ratio set to 16:9 or stretched? have you tried 5:4?

It's set to 4:3, how can I set it to a different aspect ration than 16:9/stretched?

Here's another odd thing

This is the choose you character screen just before it loads the portraits

Btw, I've tried with an old version as well (0.9.8) and the problem was already there.

Oh, ok.

Anyway, I was able to rip my '02 disc and it's working ok. The resolution is the same but it doesn't change during the logos.

I've checked my PAL KOF 2000/2001 disc and it has the same issue. The 50/60hz and game select menu's are fine, but when KOF 2000 starts (at 640x256) only the top 87.5% of the screen is used. KOF 2001 does not have this issue, but it runs at 640x448.

I've checked all settings(including trying the 50hz mode) and no changes.
Like nachash I've also tried an older version (pcsx2-v0.9.9-r4671) and can concur it appears on both old, new and stable releases.

Artifacts do occasionally appear on the bottom 12.5% on the screen like nachash's screenshot of the character screen.

Another screenshot of the bug:

Fixed with temporary cheatengine hack to show it should look(value changes on every reboot):

Hardware mode also shows some slight vertical lines on the characters, but haven't look into that any further yet.

I haven't tested this yet but something like this happens in Devil May Cry 3. If you select 60Hz output, the image gets squashed and you'll get a black horizontal bar on the bottom.

50Hz:

60Hz, squashed output:
