I had this problem a couple days ago and what fixed it was uninstalling my drivers, using driver cleaner, then reinstalling my drivers all within safe mode. This provided a completely clean install for my drivers and then I was able to use DX10 again.

It is because you need to update your dx10 as well, not only dx9. Obviously march dx9 redist updates dx9 only. Use DX web updater.

Right just tried that and it tells me that DX is up to date, this has only been happening since i upgraded to Vista x64 everything was fine before.

I downloaded and installed the DirectX SDK just to be sure I had everything updated, you can try that. It DEFINITELY updates both DX9 and DX10.
