GSdx
Actually GSDX bug's are supposed to be reported in this thread. The bug reporting forums are for core bugs not plug-in bugs

Are you sure about that? Last time I checked, it throws me an error about required features witch is unsupported in express version.

If I know something went wrong in the latest gsdx build and people start flooding this forum about it, do you know guys what I do? Skip the pages Laugh Btw, vs2010 is free to get now, and can be used to compile pcsx2.

But necessary. Gabest doesn't have time to read through every post if every other post says "OMG SoC DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE, FIX IT" or something like that.

All of the useful bug reports tend to be drowned out by yahoos asking silly questions, and it isn't fair to expect Gabest to address each individually. He knows better than anyone what is useful to GSDX development and debugging, but I'm fairly certain much of what this thread is composed of isn't it.

well, how rude do you think is it by some users to clutter this thread with support and bugfix requests? if an issue was already posted, it's on the todo list. constantly nagging about it, even in the politest manner, won't increase its priority on the list.

and the support and bugfix requests pretending to be "bug reports" don't help either. post like e.g. "revxxxx still has got weird shadows in SotC" is not a bug report, the real meaning of such a post is "could you finally fix the weird shadows in SotC, plz?". no wonder, that gabest switches to selective perception mode then Wink

Yeah basically this thread is for GSDX discussion and alerting of new bugs. If he comments in the svn this breaks blah but fixes blah or this may cause lots of bugs he probably knows there will be issues.

Other than that just be polite and alert him to any new bugs. That may pop up.

Hello, I'm new to this forum and first of all I wanted to express my thanks right off the bat for all the great work you guys are doing (how about teaching Sony some of that goodness for their PS3? Laugh).

Anywho I've searched the forum for the problem I am experiencing but I can't seem to find anyone who is having the same problem as I have, so maybe this can contribute to make this plugin and the whole emulator even better.
It appears to me that the "fault" is with GSdx so that is why I'm posting here:

On DMC 3 SE and the newest Version of GSdx (1650) I'm now almost getting a steady 60fps as opposed to the 40-60fps on 1361 (Every Speedhack enabled except the VU-Steal and EE-Sync Hack). However, while the new version adds some Bloom that is not rendered on 1361 and the aformentionened performance-bump, it is all rendered slightly off.

I'm running it all in Native-res and no other combination of settings I tried in the emulator (except one) fixed the problem for me. The only way to display the game correctly on the 1650 GSdx was to enable VU-Cycle Stealing to moderate, make a save state and load it (Pictured below).

It is till overbloomed but way better than before. Problem with this setting is that there is some serious slow down in certain scenes, mainly with many enemies or bosses(it always displays 60fps but the whole emulation goes slower). On Software-mode it displays it 1:1 as the PS2 would, or at least how my PS3 60GB displays it, on any Speed-hack setting.

With the 1361 hardware version it displayed it very similiarly to the software-mode but did not render the bloom and is quite a bit slower than the 1650 Hardware-mode (as seen on the counter).

Here are the settings I'm using for the for the emulator and plug-in. On Advanced cpu settings I have the Clamp-mode to none and chop/zero. Other than making it slower or breaking it alltogether (as in the whole picture being black/white, only seeing certain geometry like Dante's sword) the other options did nothing.

I'm using the DX10 SSSE3 verion of the plug-in and the newest public beta of pcsx (1474). CUriously the DX9 version of 1361 produces a very similiar problem as the 1650 version (DX10).

My System:

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2ghz 4mb L2-Cache
2GB DDR2-667 Ram
Ati Mobility Radeon HD2600 @681mhz/540mhz and 9.5 Catalyst
Vista Home Premium SP2

So keep up the good work, I hope this can be put to some use.

just play the pc version of DMC 3se it will look better and will also play at a great speed on your pc cuz its kinda easy to find and buy cheap this days cuz that will really solve your problem dont play a ps2 game on pcsx2 if it has a better pc port already cuz you will absolutely find bugs in pcsx2 in almost every game you will play cuz the emu is still far from perfect but its going there steady so just wait till they fix it or just play the pc version its better and almost bug free almost!

That is not the problem here. I'm reporting this because it seems so damn close to running perfectly fine and perhaps by fixing this game other games will be fixed as a side-effect. And besides, I have the PC-Version of DMC 3 SE and unfortunatly aside from missing lighting-effects, horribly compressed movies, crappy gamepad-support, and more used HDD-Space, it crumbles to 20fps whenever Music is playing (in other words, while fighting; remove the music from the Music-folder and you are good to go 60fps), which is just not acceptable. I'm pleased to say that it looks and plays better on PCSX2 with the 1361 Plug-in over the official PC-Port. Besides, if I ever really wanna play DMC 3 I'll just play it on my PS3 60GB with EE+GS.

This, as I said, was just meant as a bug report that ought to help ironing out some of the problems (or so I hope). I would love to do that for the other PS2-Games I own, but right now I have only tried DMC3 in depth.
