Hmm, well i dont actually have the 480p option in my game options, not in-game or in the menu, so yeah i guess that might be it. Your using non-pal version i take it?

I don't get this brightness bug either, I'm using the latest SVN with an NTSC version of the game.

I didnt until 2 minutes ago
In Full boot mode just after the play station logo hold down x and triangle, It puts the game internally into 480p mode, and yes i see what ya all talking about. Question though, how does it improve the visual quality? since we can use d3d upscaling

Very very very interesting! Thanks for posting these results guys. Now we know what's the cause, and hopefully it helps the devs in figuring out how to remedy the issue.
