GT4 not recognizing GT3 savefiles?

Been looking for a little bit now but havent found anything on it.

Back on my PS2 i played a lot of GT3 and when GT4 hit a lot of that too, the fun thing was that GT4 recognized i played GT3 and gave me some of my licenses and quite a bit of money to jumpstart my journey in GT4 which was very nice to have since i admittedly didnt really want to sit through the licenses part again.
I've tried doing this for the emulator versions too but GT4 doesnt recognize or cannot find any GT3 related savefiles on both the memory parts setup within the emulator.

Has anyone been able to fix this or is this just something im gonna have to be contend with since its an emulator etc.?

(This is about gran turismo if that wasnt obvious for some  )

There's a setting that give you a separate memcard based on the game you're running. It may be enabled so there's a separate memcard per game if it is. ... Emphasis on 'maybe' here.

Worth a shot to check out atleast ^^
