Game Crashs before logo
#1
Hi, I've been searching for a ton of solutions both on this site, youtube and many other non official pcsx2 sites for solutions and i'm totally stumped. I even followed Cottonvibes's Guide for noobs and still nothing.

Right now I'm trying to run FFX and FFX-2 However my problem right now is. JUST before the logo kicks in the game crashs. no error in the cmd screen just crashes. I running all the settings on cottonvibes guide. GDSX 0.1.13 SSSE3, SSSPSX pad, P.E.Op.S. 1.9.0, and Linuz ISO 0.9.0.
There was a step I could not follow:
3) select "Multi Threaded GS Mode" and "Dual Core Mode" CheckBoxes (Must be using a multi-cored processor; ie. AMD X2, AMD Phenom, Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Quad-Core)
I didn't see the DUAL CORE MODE. only the multi threaded GS mode.

The PC I'm running on right now is XP Pro, 2.4ghz duo core, 2gb of Ram, 8600 GT for graphics as well.

Thank you in advance, although I did read the rules I don't think I broke any of them but if I do, I apologize in advance as well.

Enter the bios? What do u mean by that? And yea I did the multi thread already the duo core is what I don't see, it might because the guide is old and it's on the older versions or something.

I dunno what u mean by enter the bios though. Can u explain in detail? I'm not very familiar with this program, only basics through guides.

The ISO doesn't seem to be read properly, try remaking it or playing the game from the disc with Gigaherz's cdvd plugin.

I just tried the disk, I got an error that says cdvd read error, sector =388643... I'm gona try decripting it again with the dvd decripter from cottonvibe's guide. I tried several disk it gives me the same error.

IF I load the iso into deamon tools and load it with same pluggin. It says dvd player not installed.

*edit*
Ok I tried SEVERAL games that I possess and... this is my results
FFX-2 - "cdvd read error, sector=388643"
FFX International - "cdvd read error, sector=388643"
Fatal Frame 2 - "cdvd read error, sector=388643"
Yu-gi-oh! The duelist of the roses - "cdvd read error, sector=388643"
Grandia 2 - "Not a playstation 2 game"
Oni - Ran fine.

The "cdvd read error, sector=388643" isn't all the same number it's different for each game.

It would seem then your drive has problems reading PS2 discs, you should try making ISOs from them at another computer then transfer them to your current one, or well try the discs in the emulator on another computer to see if they read.

Just to make sure, did you configure the Gigaherz's cdvd plugin pointing to the right drive when trying from the disc?

I just transfered the files and got the same result with the one that couldn't be read. says it's not a ps2 disk.

What about the Daemon tools with the iso loaded in and running off that drive idea? It says dvd player is not set up.

*edit*
If I run off the Lixuz? or watever u call it as an iso. I get this at the end before it crashes ( usnig 0.9.0 btw)

.....
ExecutePs2GameDisk
Boot Error > SYSTEM.CNF not found
CDVD.KEY = 01,00,20,21,D1,1C,05

BTW I'm sorry about all the editing/updating on this thread. I'm just very frustrated at this. I tried this a year ago when 9.2 was out and I had the same problems. and now again with 9.6 and I've been trying this for days so I really wanna get it working.

Are you aware that you try to use bzip2ed images? Bzip2 is heavy linux archiver, with good compression rate. Decompress it first.

oh yea I know about that. I actually just tried the BZ after the isos, sorry. I should have shown u the iso one, but it's the same deal basicly.

I read somewhere else that someone said if u don't have system.cnf ur considered to be pirating? but... i'm running into that problems sometimes too if I use iso linuz or watever lol I'm burning all my images from REAL copies of the game too. None of that 5$ for 8 games crap dvds.

i'm trying to reburn another image right now... I'm using my laptop since shadow mentioned something might be wrong with my cd drive. I'm gona test the Iso in a few minutes when it's done.

More input would be greatly appreciated.
