Game randomly stutters and cutscenes are borked

So I just got this emulator running because I want to play some of my games at a higher resolution.  For starters, I've got a copy of Rygar, and the game is beautiful, and I'd love to play it at a higher resolution so I can really get the most out of it.

I've got everything set up and it is running fine overall, but there are two issues I am having that I would like to ask about.
One, when the game starts up it plays an FMV, and this runs horridly.  It seems to be flashing a black screen every other frame.  This kinda thing is going to give people seizures.  So I'm wondering if there is some kinda fix or option I don't know about that could possibly resolve this.
Two, every now and then the game randomly slows down for about a second or two.  The game looks like it is stuttering, although I think I technically don't miss any frames, I think it is just holding the frames for too long.  The sound makes stuttering noises in the same manner.  So overall everything still seems to be synced properly, its just that the game slowed down for a short while.
It seems to be happening randomly every two to ten minutes; there seems to be no pattern with what is going on inside the game.

I'm running the game directly off of a disc, in case that makes a difference.  I have these issues whether I run at native resolution or a higher resolution.

I understand if these problems don't have resolutions yet, but I'm new to this program so I figured I would ask.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Oh wait, I found the wiki page and it lists a fix for the FMV going into seizure mode. So I got that taken care of. Though I did also find that if I let that attract FMV play all the way through the game freezes when its done. It does this whether I've applied the fix for the flashing FMV or not.

...It repeated that "IPU1 Normal error" basically every frame, so I culled those out. I included the few times I found it displaying a different message, but I can't be certain I got everything relevant. I'm not exaggerating to say it was printed in the log thousands of times.

Also upgrade to 1.5 if you please which you can get here: https://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

You can see if OpenGL will fix some graphic issues, but since you have a 650 not sure if it has a OpenGL Version high enough.

Stuttering is something to be expected while playing directly from the disk
The pc drive dont work the same way as the ps2 dvd drive

Try making an image of the game by using ImgBurn
Also since you have an nvidia gpu,better use OpenGL...dx9 is known to case graphical problems
And also,your cpu barely reaches the single threated performance needed for most 3d games

His card might not work with OGL though it's only a 650 in this case, so his OGL version might be too old.

My gt 640 (rev 2) was also a kepler based 600 series, it works just fine with all the openGL features that PCSX2 uses. Also it should be generally powerful (depends on the game) enough to do 3-4x resolution, since the gt640 could do 2-3x generally.

I'm not having graphical issue; I have stuttering and a freeze. But I'll keep that in mind.

Uhhh, not really sure where you're getting that one from, buddy. My nVidea card is a little behind today's curve but my CPU is more than capable.
