Game's start menu on mgs3

I think I have everything setup right on my computer using ver 1.2.1 but when I hit the start button it takes me to the menu to start new game, load game....I can move up and down on the menu but I can't select any of the options.The game boots up fast and sounds decent but I can't play.Any ideas???

did you set up lilypad ?
more specifically, did you map keys to the d-pad ?

I'm using ssspsx setup with all the buttons setup right,I just can't hit new game to start playing.

MGS is set to CIRCLE to start, not X

Yup hit circle still nothing.I know the controller is working because all the buttons work on calibration and when setting up button layout.I don't get it, I'll have to try mouse and keyboard or try another game.Still new to this emulator.

what if you give a try with lilypad instead ?

Just switched it to lilypad and works great now...cool thanx
