Games Unplayable? i7 2600k Radeon 7770
#21
No need for overclocking man, that i7 2600k is on stock speed fast enough.

But what about cpu-z? If your cpu is throttling you should definitely turn that off in the bios.. it's no overclocking it's just turning off a setting in the bios. It's no rocket science, so don't be afraid to break something. Bios is just a menu with options, look for the option called "CPU EIST" and set it to "off". And use .iso instead of physical disks.

I had the same problems by the way, but i spend a lot of time messing with the settings/ and learning what they mean and somehow all my games run great right now.
CPU: AMD Phenom ii x4 955 @ 3.4Ghz
GPU: MSI GTX 560-Ti Hawk
RAM: Kingston ValueRam 4GB 1333 @ 1600
PSU: XFX PRO550W

I can almost guarantee the CPU is throttling. I had the same exact issue. Get RealTemp 370 or CPUZ and watch it the clock speed when you load the game. I bet it's not running 3.4Ghz or higher.

hmmm..surprisingly enough, my rig is a whole league inferior than yours but I can play the games you have enumerated fairly good at native resolutions.. hmm..maybe check your configuration settings? speedhacks? your system is powerful enough though..

This is just weird because my cpu would eat those games for breakfast.

Maybe a virus is eating up the CPU cycles?
