Games appear to be rendering at a lower resolution?
#1
Hi, I'm kinda new to PCSX2 so sorry if the solution is obvious, but I've tried three different builds, every renderer, every option I can think of, but still, games look like they're being rendered at a lower resolution than the one I specify in the plugin settings:

Notice the jaggies/artifacts around the character and the flags in the background. This is supposed to be 1080p, using a custom resolution of 1920x1080 in this instance. Using x3 or x4 yields the same results, it's the same with every game I try. For Tak, the weird thing is that in some locations the game seems to switch to actually rendering at 1080p, what's causing this?

I'm kinda new to PCSX2 too but I think that has something to do with the Anti-Aliasing. Have you tried to turn it to x16 or x8?

Enabling FXAA doesn't change much. Increasing the resolution does help, but I can still notice the same effect, it being rendered at a lower res.

But here's a screenshot from the location I'm currently at:

Here I'm using the exact same settings I used in my previous screenshot, except here everything looks how it should at 1080p. It's really baffling.

not really.

I think the background you have in your 1st post is a pre-rendered one, and thus cannot be upscaled.

No sir that is certainly not the issue here. I just took a couple screenshots going from one location to the other:

As you can see, in the first, something is clearly not right with the resolution, especially evident around the character, yet in the second everything looks fine. Both taken using the exact same settings just different locations.

Yeah, the difference is definitely there. What game is this? This is probably an issue of the game itself that needs to be fixed.

Tried it, didn't fix it. But..

It's "Tak and the Power of Juju" and yeah actually I think you're right, it's just my luck with the games I've tried so far (which to be fair are 5, they have varying degrees of not looking right/blurry) and it's just the way they're rendered or their method of AA.

Thanks guys.
