Games crashing when I load / save from memory card
#1
Hi,

wondering if anyone can help.

Long time user of PCSX2 never had this issue.  When I try and save or load a game from memory card emu is crashing.  Saves are being saved to a folder and I've used this folder since 2021.  After running out of memory card space using the traditional method.

Just to add I've disabled patches and I'm still seeing the issue.

Example of error below when I try to load a save, however emu also closes at the same point if I try to save

[  60.4147] (FolderMcd) Writing data for slot 0 to file system...

thanks

Your folder path is way too long. Shorten it.

F:\_Emus\pcsx2-v1.7.3693-windows-64bit-SSE4-Qt\..\PCSX2 - Memory cards do not delete\memcards\my memory card.ps2

There's malformed line in your configs file : "[ 0.2406] (ParsePlayedTimeLine) Malformed line: 'OPNPS2LD-v1.2.0-Beta-2063-d903dcd 140 1702837346
[ 0.2406] '"

Also holy crap batman! Did i count 3 wildly different drives that this all reads and writes from?

Also are you sure your save file isn't corrupted and still has space? Boot to bios and load it up in bios to see if it works still. Maybe your save file is out of space or got corrupted.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll change the folder length for the memory card, but tbh I’ve used that folder in that location for almost 4 years so I doubt that’s the issue.

I have my roms on a NAS drive which is the \\DS2415 location in the logs, this is also mapped as a Z Drive
Which also shows up on the logs as it’s the same location. Not sure why both the UNC path and mapped drive are showing tbh as my games location is selected via the Z:\ Mapped drive.

All my emulators are on my F drive, so nothing much out of the ordinary In my set up.

I’ve tested multiple games and have the same issue so wouldn’t put this down to a single corrupted save it also happens when I have my folder memory card selected and try and save a new save on a game I’ve never played.

I did find a fix (well kind of) if I convert my folder memory card to a 32mb memory card the saves will load. I then tried to convert that memory card back to a folder memory card and at that point PCSX2 crashed and the memory card would not convert to a folder.

I also tried to copy the folder, this didn’t work.

I’ll shorten the memory card folder and then get back to you, thanks again

I don't know if this is helpful. But I was having some crashing issues when I recently updated to the latest version. The app was crashing anytime I tried to save to a newly created folder memory card. The brand-new memory card that I used initially as the source to create the memory card folder was not formatted.

I created a brand-new card, formatted it in a game and saved a file to it. Once I did that and then converted it into a folder style card, I was able to load and save to it without crashing.
