Games running slow on my pc?

Pretty sure my computer I built should be able to run pcsx2 without any issues but maybe not? Its been getting laggy

FX-8350 @ 4.6ghz
hd 7850
8 gigs of ram @ 1600mhz
game is stored on a samsung 840 120gig ssd

Another issue other than the lag is since my ps2 gave out i found a downloadable version of tony hawks american wasteland but the graphics are buggy IE the floors missing, walls are missing, etc

any ideas on how to resolve these issues?
