Gran Turismo 4 (NTSC) is playable. [HOWTO] Best config to enjoy it.

internal res only makes the quality of the picture better in whatever res is the game. also you can use that resolution (1920x1080) with whatever resolution has the game.

Fear not! I only pointed it out because running the game at 1920x1080 with the game outputting at 1080 produces better results than the exact same internal res outputting at 480i (choosing 1920x1080 was arbitrary, I realize the correlation between higher numbers and better quality).

I did a comparison just for reference. Both running internally at 1920x1080, under 1080i on the right you can see the outline of the mountain and tree are more pronounced. You can also make out more detail on the mountain.

Again in the 1080i shot you can see more detail in the crevices and edges of the rocks and more detail in the brush.

Everything default.
Internal res to 1920x1080 since the game is 1080i native.

Video!

Damn, how did you do this? I have better cpu than you and my gameplay speed is pure crap. :-/ Is DX11 such a big help? Win64? Intel CPU?

Videos are sped up to full speed. He might be getting 10 fps, there is no way of knowing with a video.

use 0.9.7

and it works. you must set the 1st option in gsdx to the size you want. not the internal resolution.
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.

I hoped the 0.9.7 will be more effective at emulating the GT4, but on my PC it's the same as 0.9.6. I tried some speedhacks and other stuff, and set the GSDX to DX10/11 hardware, also tried DX9, but no results.

Runs approximately the same as on the previous version...
