just letting people know, IF you follow the wiki page's setup...
it'll run nicely.

plugins
*GSdx 5875 0.1.16 [gsdx32-sse4-r5875]
*LilyPad SVN (r5822) 0.11.0
*SPU2-X r5830 2.0.0
*cdvdGigaherz (r5822) 0.8.0
*USBnull
*FWnull
*DEV9null

running GSDX on Direct3D11 (hardware)
scaling is at 3X (use 2X on similar graphics cards to mine, otherwise scene changes like camera snaps DO stutter, and sometimes freeze for a few seconds)

(if it matters? Texture filtering and 8-bit textures are on)

Pc Specs
Cpu - Intel I7-875K @ 2.4ghz (first generation I Core processor)
RAM - 4X4GB (16GB) Kingston ddr3 @ 1333mhz
Gpu - Gainward Geforce GTX 560Ti (1GB Vram)
MOBO - eMachines ET1862
HDD - Western Digital Green 3TB formatted via linux into 800GB partitions... 5400RPM
OS - Windows 7 ultimate X64

(you can see it is not cutting edge hardware, basically any modern machine should have the grunt to run this game, so long as it matches or exceeds this outdated GPU. do NOT assume that because your core 2 duo with 4gb ram has a gtx 560 TI boost... that it will run this better. this emulator relies on a decent cpu and ram combo as much as a decent GPU. i'd surmise that a I5 and 6-8gb ram would suffice for the emulator, with at least a similar spec graphics card to mine...)
note, the increased ram is NOT so the emulator will run, but so there is headroom for cpu/gpu processing.

comments

i'm holding between 58 and 60FPS, using sunday cup's tracks as benchmark.
special stage route 5 does have a crazy slowdown, my first thought was it was the track, but after overtaking the other cars, it resumed a normal speed, i'm assuming the reflections on the other cars caused the lag... which axed 20FPS...

i'd assume this game would actually run without issue on a 700 series or newer nvidia graphics card (NOT the lowest spec ones... one is actually worse then this card)
AMD may actually have the slight advantage, since their cards tend to favour higher clock speeds, over pretty effects like physX...
so have a look, it's possible your machine can happily run GT4. one of, if not The most demanding PS2 game around... and if it can do that, then you know you only have to worry about proper compatibility...
