Gran Turismo 4 with maxed out speed hacks

Getting 40-45 fps in races (sometimes 50) with maxed out speedhacks on such a weak machine. That ''vu cycle stealing'' thing works great. Acceptable speed to play lol

specs:
Athlon x2 5000+ 2.7ghz
2gigram
x1650pro
xp sp3

GT4 ntsc-u, pcsx2 0.9.7 3113, gsdx3623

the only problem i got is that menu buttons delays a lot at the car selection screen when a 3d texture comes (cars), so you'll have to wait a while to enter race, this happens because of vu cycle stealing, but hey gives a nice fps boost this is a acceptable issue.

Awesome

ah and i have a question. Isn't it possible to add more and more vu cycle stealing option to pcsx2 to get more speed?

Except that with all the speedhacks on, you're basically emulating a PS2 running at less than half speed.

So while you're getting 45fps, it's 45fps on a very very slow PS2. You're basically not getting anywhere near TRUE full speed of the game.

As for your question, you're basically asking if they could theoretically turn down the PS2's graphic processor even more? I'm sure you could compile an option for it... but the game will likely crash and even if it doesn't, you're just going to be slowing the game down more.

Exactly the problem.
If you compare your max speedhacked gameplay to how your real console plays the game
you should notice how sluggish and choppy it runs already.
Speedhacks are not "free" in PCSX2, unfortunately. Especially the cycle modifiers are bad.
