Graphical bug on Gran Turismo 4 (Nightly v1.7.5236)
#1
Bug
Started playing some GT4 today when I suddenly got flashbanged by garbage graphics after the start of an endurance race. I initially thought that it had something to do with the HD texture pack I was using, since I read online that there had been some unresolved bug on Tokyo R246, so I relaunched the game with no texture replacements but the bug continued to happen at inconsistent intervals.

After further testing I found out that this occurs every time my car is parallel with an opponent's. Races that I have tested so far were:
  • Tokyo R246 w/ Toyota WOODONE TOM'S Supra (Endurance)
  • Infineon Raceway (Sports Car Course) w/ Audi R8 (Driving Mission)
  • Trial Mountain w/ Honda Castrol MUGEN NSX (Arcade)
  • Grand Canyon w/ Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 (Arcade)

Using Vulkan renderer w/ 4x native resolution, alongside upscaling fixes.

Needless to say, it's a little distracting! If it's an error on my end I'm not sure what could've caused it, as the game was playing fine a few days ago with no changes in settings. I'll try to provide screenshots later since I thought I was able to upload a clip of me replicating it, since it's kind of hard to explain this one with just words or still images.

EDIT: This was resolved by turning off Merge Sprite, located under Upscaling Fixes. Someone else will probably run into it, so there ya go.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

UPDATE: Turning off Merge Sprites fixes this problem. I had it on to fix the misaligned wheel textures during replays while I was on older builds iirc

Weird how I need it off now as of the recent Nightly, but that's the fun with upscaling fixes I guess Biggrin
