Guitar Hero 3 using PS2 guitar

I am trying to use my PS2 guitar for the emulator on guitar hero 3, I have a controller adapter ( http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Joy-Box-PS2-...B000RLWF7I ) I have the dongle to connect the guitar and everything, but when i try to use the guitar for the game it doesn't work, it just picks it up as a controller so it doesn't have my strum or anything i'm just pressing the buttons but don't have to use the strum bar. How would I get it to work with the strum bar, like how it works normally for a PS2?
