HELP: Crash After Disk Boots, Star Ocean 3/FFX/General PCSX2 Use Problem
#1
Hello All,

Firstly thank you for reading this post and any positive replies. I have gone through the configuration guide and reached the following config for my system, although it still doesn't run any of my games (star ocean 3 & FFX):

Q9400 chip
Vista x64
ATI HD4870 DX10

gsdx 890 sse41
Lilypad 0.9.9
Gigaherz's CDVD 0.7
USBnull driver 0.3
spu2-x 1.1.0
dev9nulldriver 0.2.0
fwnull driver 0.4.0

europe 1.6 bios

the emulator will load into the intial screen and doesn't say that it isn't configured properly. It will also load into the initial ps2 screen i.e. browser and system configuration and all features there work properly however it won't read any discs. It will boot any game disk and then crash before giving any visuals, giving CDVD read error codes in the console for a particular sector.

I have the VU add (Tri-Ace) gamefix enabled, and no speed hacks enabled. All settings in the advanced section are set to the defaults. I have also tried using the Peops CDVD plugin with and without the waiting for the drive to be ready option with no success.

I have reached a dead end and haven't been able to find any similar problems on the forums. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong.

Thanks.

You are using a ISO or a disc? post the content of your emulog.txt file located in the logs folder after having the issue.

What is your pcsx2 settings? GSdx too.

I am using the original discs and havent yet tried ISO copies. gdsx settings are:

gdsx sse41
1920x1080
direct3D10 hardware
16:9
D3D set to native
te3xture filters on
vsync on

which pcsx2 settings did you mean or did you want the whole configuration?

Try updating to the latest beta and plugins.

Also, you are using "File>Run CD/DVD" or "Run>Execute", right?

Don't forget to activate the Tri-Ace fix before trying Star Ocean 3.

Bingo. I'll bet a code optimization that's all you need to do to fix this particular problem. Smile

He said he had the tri-ace gamefix enabled enabled.

@Mozza: You might need to make ISOs of your games and run them with the Linuz ISO cdvd plugin maybe you'll have better luck them, I suggest you make the ISOS with the ImgBurn app but it's also possible the drive or disc just wont read well. You could also try the CDVDOlio plugin I guess
http://pcsx2.dyndns.org/index.php?n=CDVDolio dont forget to get the VS 2020 redistributable file at the top of the page.

Im happy to say that the problem has now been resolved thanks to shadow ladys advice. The problem was resolved by burning ISO images of the discs with imgburn.

Many, many thanks to shadow lady, and everyone else who contributed.
