#1
Hello,

I have a problem with Kingdom Hearts II on pcsx2... I explain : everything goes right, but when cutscenes come I have a blackscreen. I can't see anything. For instance, at the beginning of the game when I speak with the jeweller I just can't see text of what she says. That's very anoying, if someone can help me Biggrin

Which PCSX2 version and what settings are you using?
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.60~4.20 GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super @ 6 GB | Samsung 980 1TB | Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

So I'm using PCSX2 1.2.1. My video config : [Image: mini_628375gsconfig.jpg]
And I'm using default emulation settings. I've tried to put software renderer (hotkey F9) but it still doesn't work.

I think it's best to upload your emulog since I think you ripped your game wrong and it will show (TLB Miss)
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD4650
Rams: 4GB
OS: Windows 7

Ok I've read the emulog file and I found what was wrong :

Quote:[wx] Failed to load shared library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.2.1\Plugins\gsdx32-avx2-r5875.dll' (error -1073741795: unknown error c000001d)
Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.2.1\Plugins\gsdx32-avx2-r5875.dll
File is not a valid dynamic library.
Some kinda plugin failure: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.2.1\Plugins\gsdx32-avx2-r5875.dll
Bios Found: Europe v02.20(10/02/2006) Console
PCSX2 1.2.1.r5873 - compiled on Feb 3 2014
Savestate version: 0x9a0a0000

So I've switched to gdsx32-sse2-r5875 (instead of \gsdx32-avx2-r5875.dll) and now it's working fine !
A last question : do you know what's the main difference between these plugins ? (avx/sse2/sse4/sse3) ?

Thanks Biggrin

AVX2 is faster than SSE2. If anything use SSE4 and see if it works in that. It doesn't make much sense that it won't work in AVX / AVX2 though. I played this game just fine with AVX2.

[Edit] I'm a derp.

It makes sense because his CPU (i5 2500k) doesn't support AVX2 instructions, but only up to AVX. However, our CPU supports AVX2.

Yeah looked at it wrong. I saw the 2 from SSE42 and somehow put it behind AVX in my head on that page. Oops.

  • sse 2 is the slowest one of them
  • sse 3 is nearly the same as sse2 with little speedups
  • sse4 will show improve in performance in hardware mode
  • use avx over sse4 only on sw mode, since sse4 outperforms avx in hardware mode
