HP Pavilion Notebook PC 15-p145nl and pcsx2: is it really that bad?
#1
Hi, i just bought this notebook (specs below), installed pcsx2, followed the official guide for emulator setting and stuff, but I get clean emulation without slowdown just with native resolution. To me it's quite weird since I found a lot of users with a pc worse than mine that can run pcsx2 with 3x and anisotropic filters on. Anyway these are the specs of my pc

Sistema operativo
Windows 8.1 64

Intel® Core™ i5-4210U con scheda grafica Intel HD 4400 (1,7 GHz, 3 MB di cache, 2 core)

12 GB di SDRAM DDR3L a 1600 MHz (1 x 4 GB, 1 x 8 GB)

NVIDIA GeForce 840M (2 GB di DDR3 dedicata)

Any suggestion?

Make sure PCSX2 is using the 840m.

Although the CPU itself will limit you to native, or 2x at best with that.

So you say there's nothing weird about that, I cannot ask for more with this cpu, can I?
When I set to 2x the image widen for a sec once in a while, is there any way to solve this?

As Blyss said, make sure pcsx2 is using the 840m in the gsdx settings and nvidia or whatever settings, set the laptop to high performance mode, turn on recommended speedhacks and mtvu. I wouldn't expect it to run the more demanding games, though, since 2.7ghz is too slow for that. Most "moderate" games should work more or less fine.

Yes, for the image widening thing, do this:

Config->Video->Plugin settings. Tick "Enable HW Hacks" then click configure by that, and then in the new dialog tick "Nvidia hack"

As far as the CPU, run with high performance power plan, run plugged in. Kill any unnecessary programs. That's the best you can do.

Yeah, run plugged in. The i5 4210U will eat up your battery very quickly. Once it drops to about 25% your cpu will be throttled too.

That cpu should run some moderately intensive games, but nothing too hard.

Sorry, I am not English native speaker. What does "run plugged in" mean?
As for the Nvidia hack, the option was already ticked, but it doesn't solve the problem, which actually occurs just with 2x, not 3x.

What version are your drivers, then?

"Run plugged in" means "Use your laptop while it is attached to the electrical outlet"
