Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Assertion Failed Error
#1
Hello I have been trying to play Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and have tried many ways of fixing it. When I lauch it, the Playstation startup and ps2 icons come up as usual, but after it says checking memory card, after that this screen pops up saying "Assertion Failed: Invalid Unpack". Any help would be amazing! thanks! I also posted a screenshot of the error below.

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using, such as speed hacks or presets.
  • Your GSdx graphics settings (a picture of the settings dialog is preferred)
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

okay, I can't guarantee this, but get the patch from this post https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Harry-Po...#pid569903

You will need to rename the file to have the CRC listed in your log for your version (it will be like "Game CRC = 0x7E3C6FDE" in the log, so in this case you would call your file 7e3c6fde.pnach)

It might work, it was reported in that thread that it should, but I haven't tested that personally.

Thanks for the reply, I am very new with pcsx2 and have never had any major problems before. How do I get to the log?

it will either be in your PCSX2 folder (wherever you installed it) under "logs" then it is called "emulog.txt"

if it's not there, it's probably under your Documents folder, there will be a PCSX2 folder there, then look for "logs" and "emulog.txt" again.
