Has anyone gotten Hot Shots 3 to work @ Full Speed?

In software mode theses issues are gone. I also noticed that this game is very vram intensive using 2gb of my r9 270 and the white line in shot meter is missing or gets quite transparent. The grass might be a mipmapping issue and its more noticeable in 1x native in hardware mode.
Yes, shadows are missing(isn't resolved with Accurate Date & BUA Ultra) and grass is a mipmapping issue, but that doesn't matter that much to me when the speed is half of what it should be. Tongue2

Grass roughness is fixed by turning off 8-bit textures actually

FYI, shadows also missing w/trees and half-speed both occur on HSG4

Maybe with HSG3, but not 4 because it's mipmapping issue. So there is no solution other than playing in software mode.

On openGL you could try to disable geometry shader, it is faster on some game. Someone need to add a nice combo-box for it. Check the ini if you have something close of override geometry shader, set it to 0.

I turned them on using the latest gpu plugin from git but the latest stable pcsx2 that's not from git. The shadows are still missing and I tried looking in the ini for to disable the geometry shader and couldn't find it. The settings caused other glitches like an invisable spot in the course but I think its my gpu because it's an amd card with the seperate shaders not working. The shadows do show up in software mode by the way even with mipmapping disabled.

The grass might be why its slow because the emulator is loading the biggest texture since it can't use the smaller textures. That's why I pointed out the grass because of the speed not to tell you to fix the mipmapping issue. I already know that you have to rewrite the plugin which I know is extremely difficult and time consuming to fix it. The Ratchet and Clank games are similar with the textures causing the same performance problem in hardware mode.

No, there are no plans on rewriting the plugin Tongue (Also I don't think mipmapping needs a lot of work to consider rewriting)

The grass is still there when it rains, and when it rains there is no slowdown. So no, that's not the reason. Wink

I just replayed the dump
1/ Game use a lots of DATE (destination alpha test). Bad for perf
2/ Game reads back the target. Very bad for the perf.
3/ Game has a channel effect. Very bad for the perf.

I need to debug further case 3.

It is annoying, games uses 175 draws call to render a black screen. And then use this black texture which seem to be used to modulate the light intensity.

Is there a wrong light tone on the game (less dark than SW)? I'm attracted to just discard the light effect with a CRC hack.

fwiw, I tyed to bypass the bad stuff. And I only manage to increase the fps to 9 (was 6). So there is something that is slow but I don't know what. (CPU is barely used, so something hurt GPU performance).
