Help Emulating Star Ocean Til The End Of Time
#1
Hello, I am new here, and I can't figure this out:

Whenever I try to play Star Ocean: TTOEOT, it loads the game properly, I am able to get through the initial configuration, see the initial opening video, and choose "New Game", and, then, I get a black screen. I can hear Fayte's (main character) footsteps and the door open if I randomly run into that, but, I can't see anything! If I go to the in-game menu, I can see everything at that point, so I know the game is working correctly. Help me! I will post my system specs now:

OS: Windows 8.1 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Celeron 2.6 GHz (x2)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics
Total Available Physical Memory: 1972 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 3 MB
System Video Memory: 0 MB
Shared System Memory: 1760 MB

RAM: 8 GB

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

P.S.: I have already tried enabling a disabling the Tri-Ace Hack (or whatever it's called)!

P.P.S.: I know that my system isn't exactly a powerhouse when it comes to emulation, to say the least, but, if your idea of help is to suggest I go buy a better graphics card/processor/computer/whatever, don't bother posting! Tongue

Hello, thanks for the reply, jesalvein. I am running a dual core 2.6 GHz (x2) CPU, with a Intel HD GPU, 8 GB RAM, on Windows 8.1. I am running PCSX2 Version 1.2.1, using the default settings, and I am trying to play Star Ocean Til The End Of Time from an ISO. Thanks!

SOTET is very demanding in PCSX2 and that CPU isn't gonna run it full speed, I can tell you that.

I get slowdown in battle even with my cpu at 4.8GHz.

As for black screen... dunno, what are your GSdx settings?

Sure, I will post the emulog.txt, if you tell me where that is, and how to post it, lol... As for my GSdx9 Settings, they are as follows:
Adapter: Microsoft Basic Render Driver
Renderer: Direct3D9 (Hardware)
Interlacing (F5) Auto

Original PS2 Resolution: Checked
Enable Shade Boost: Unchecked
Enable FXAA: Unchecked
Enable FX Shader: Unchecked
Texture Filtering: Double-Checked
Logarithmic Z: Checked
Allow 8-Bit Textures: Unchecked
Alpha Correction (FBA): Checked
Enable HW Hacks: Unchecked
Anisotropic Filtering: Unchecked

Extra rendering threads: 0
Edge Anti-aliasing (AA1): Unchecked

Does that answer your questions?

Blyss Sarania: I know that my system isn't going to run it perfectly, or without slowdown, but, I should be able to see something when I'm playing!!

CPU is even slower than I thought, with an STP of 519. SOTET needs 1800+

Again we can try to help you with this issue, but the game IS going to run balls slow on that machine.

You can't see anything because you're using integrated Intel HD, which isn't supported.
