Help running custom stripped-down Mortal Kombat ISOs
#1
I created stripped-down ISOs of MK Deception's Premium Pack Bonus Disc, MK Shaolin Monks, and MK Armageddon Premium Edition, so that they only consist of the arcade emulations of MK, MKII, and Ultimate MK3, plus the modules required for them to operate. I also used a program called DVDScan to patch the ISOs to CD format instead of DVD.

The custom ISOs work with no issues on my modded PS2, and even the Play! emulator runs them without any trouble. But PCSX2 won't run them at all. When I start up any of the ISOs, all I get is a black screen and a flashing cursor.

You guys think you can help me out with this? I need them to work on PCSX2 at least until Play! gains multiple controller support, and also because one of my computers can't run Play! very well...

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

Try a different video plugin.

Youre trying to load an avx2 plugin.. your processor doesnt support avx2. Try a SSE4 graphics plugin.

After you change the GS plugin per scythe's recommendation, the problem you're gonna want to look into is with the IOP module SIO2MAN.

loadmodule: fname cdrom0:¥MODULES¥SIO2MAN.IRX;1 args 0 arg
open fail name ¥MODULES¥SIO2MAN.IRX;1
loadmodule: id -203, ret 0

The log shows the game is repeatedly trying to load this module; my bet is that in your stripped down version, either the EE code which reaches out to this module got removed, or the IOP module itself is missing.

I figured out what went wrong:
DVDScan corrupted the ISOs when it patched them to CD format. So I rebuilt them without using DVDScan and now PCSX2 runs the ISOs flawlessly. Play! and my modded PS2 still run them flawlessly as well.

Problem Solved!

hello. Could you make this collection of mk1 mk2 and umk3 available? I would just like to remember good times from my childhood in arcades. I thought that someday someone intelligent would make this collection on just one CD/DVD. I would like it on CD, I think changing CDs is very luxurious. Can you make your compilation available to me in CD format? I would be very grateful my friend.
