It really depends on what games you plan to play... Right now you can go to bestbuy.com and sort their desktops from highest to lowest price, and the most expensive one will play certain games terribly. For those games you'll need to OC your CPU, which is impossible on OEM machines like Dell, HP, etc.

The main thing to look for is a powerful cpu. Intel cpus are a bit better for pcsx2, i3/i5/i7 at 3ghz or more are great and will perform very well in most games. For gpu you dont really need anything fancy if you are fine with native resolution, just make sure you dont get an integrated gpu. Try getting win 7/vista since dx10 helps a lot in many games.
Specs:
CPU: C2D E8400 @ 3.6
GPU: GTX 560Ti 2Gb
MOB: Asus P5QL
RAM: Crucial 4Gb
OS: Windows 7 64bit/XP 32bit

the cheapest way and also the best way is to build pc your self that way you get exactly what you need for much lower price than if you bought in store, but you have to be able to put it all together and get it runnig and that requires a little pc knowlege and common sense. if you are willing to put in the time and think you can handle it, go to http://www.overclockers.com/forums/ and sign up and make a post requesting help on pc build give little info like your budget and what pc will be used for and people will find the hardware that meets your needs and will help you throughout the whole process, im a member there its the best place for any questions you have about pc, you can find posts there about help with pc builds every day, you will get the best advise there

were saying its a lot better to buy parts and then build pc yourself from those parts, that way you get exactly what you want in your computer and it comes out cheaper than buying in the store. But since youre looking to buy factory manufactured pc here is some pc that will do what you want, and yes there expensive but thats how it is if you want to buy gaming pc instead of building one.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alienware+-+...Id=9697549 and thats what you will get in the store, its total ripoff, mine cost me less than $1000 with 24" monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse and its better than either one of those. But you can get little better deals buying online, from sites like this one http://www.ibuypower.com/2011/NewYear/specials.html and you can choose what you want and what you dont need which lets you adjust the price a little but its still not as cheap as building your own system
