Help with Shellshock random freezes during gameplay
#1
Anyone know of any settings or anything that can help with Shellshock and it random freezing for a second then unfreezing?

All default settings on using GSDX hw in native.

Not sure if its a bug but its a fun game and it works, it just seems to lock up randomly and it doesnt seem to be any certain place or time that I notice.  It seems to just happen at random.

Would this count as a bug or is there maybe some settings I could try out to see if the problem goes away?
tried widescreen patches on and off and it does the same thing, not sure if its even fixable but playing this game alot and plan too so if anyone knows a settings to fix it or if I should report it as a bug maybe it could be fixed since the game does work.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]

Thanks for replying, maybe you could suggest a setting or something I could try to stop the random freezes which only happens for a second or maybe 2 or 3 but then it will magically unfreeze.  Fingers crossed!!!

Other things I tried:
tried with and without mem cards also opengl in hardware and software same thing happened Sad

Right after a freeze happened I copied the code:

There is no resolution for this. It is due to the VU program cache filling up - a design flaw with the way programs are "recompiled" in the Killzone engine. Sorry

You can try VU I bit hack for scarface or crash tag team racing (can find them in gamefixes under enable manual gamefixes). One of them may help you.

Thats a bummer, well the good news is the game does unfreeze so its playable.  Thanks for the response, killzone seems like a great engine otherwise.

If anyone can ever think of a fix please check out this game, its pretty unique with its style and location and fun too, plus i dont think it made it to other consoles and due to licensing I doubt we will ever see a remaster Sad  Closest thing I guess we may someday get is figuring it out off the store because they have it there, the screenshots look just mine with the settings all cranked up.

***Edit***  Can I increase the cache of the VU?  Is there a limit for it that at some point it self flushes?  It must work if their still selling it, problem is you need a PS4 I guess to get it which seems a bit pricey for old games, would be nice if they made some small box just for store stuff.

Short of modifying PCSX2 source code, no, the VU cache is going to be a constant size.
